Commission a Painting from Irish Artist

It is often a little daunting considering commissioning of an artwork from an artist. While we are all familiar with organising a plumber or an electrician to work on our home, many people are afraid to approach an artist to paint an artwork for them.
Commissioning me to work on a painting for you is as easy as jotting down a list of your favourite things! Regularly I take calls from potential customers who are completely uneasy as to how to start the process and fearful of the costs.. All work is hand painted and locally framed and my prices are reasonable.
Firstly all my enquiries start with a call or more regularly an email through the contact page. Asking sizes and prices. I work in two sizes 12x16ins approx 30x40cm frame size and 16x20ins approx 40x50cm frame size. Prices are available on application, and artwork of any other size can be ordered unframed.
Because my Watercolour and Ink commissions for weddings birthdays anniversary and retirements are totally personal, creating a unique story involves gathering information . The easiest way to gather information is to make a fun style C.V . Start with names and event, followed by Places , where the person / people are from . think of a signpost and send me a few places with meaning. Kids names pets names , the hobbies and jobs follow.
A couple of photos are invaluable to give me an indication of looks , height , etc. I don’t do portraits! so the look of the people in your commission will be a similar to photo in a general way, no wrinkles I promise.
How much detail should you send me. It’s not so much quantity as quality, for example
“Mary is a wonderful kind and generous person” is fine however “Mary is super generous and buys tons of gifts for everyone” gives me a visual to work with.
“John plays golf and drives a Nissan leaf” is fine , however “John Plays golf in Rush Golf Club and fancies himself as an eco warrior with his new Red Nissan leaf” gives me more visuals and a some fun slagging.
If you want to include a house , google streetview can be an excellent resource. If a place is well known just include the name I will resource it myself.
